Yesterday Audi Company announced that the production of second generation Audi TT coupe has started in one of their factories located in Hungary, Europe. 20 million Euros (about 25 million US dollars) were spent to construct assembly line for the new one TT in the Hungarian factory and 210 million Euros (about 265 million US dollars) were invested in this coupe development. So it makes a total 230 million Euros (about 290 million US dollars) just to continue this legacy of this ultra slim shaped coupe. We all hope that 210 million of Euros were wisely spent remembering the fact that first previous generation TT’s had some serious aerodynamic and handling problems (car had tendency to do a lift off oversteer at high speeds) at high speed, which were later solved by adding a spoiler on the rear part of this car.

This car was presented to public much earlier this year. To be more exact it happened on the 6th of April.

This car is a further evolution of ultra-slim design style that it presented by first appearing as a concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1995. It took about 4 years for the first generation TT to roll of the assembly line. Abbreviation TT stands for the “Tourist Trophy” (it is the name of annual road race on the Isle of Man located somewhere near England). As you can see it took another 7 years to create second generation Audi TT coupe, which became notably wider (on 7,62 cm or 3 inches) and longer (on 12,7 cm or 5 inches) comparing to its predecessor. Though this car continues the legacy of the same design style as it predecessor, but as you can see in the pictures, it was totally redesigned to have similarities with current Audi model line up.

This car is powered by either 4-cylinder engine outputting 200hp or 6-cylinder engine making even more ponies. 250 horsies are available from this V6 powerplant, which is connected to a DSG gearbox transferring power to a world famous Audi full (or should we say 4) wheel drive – Quattro. These characteristics enables this TT version do 0 to 100km/h (0-60mph) in 5,7 seconds. Weaker version with 4-cylinder powerplant will only be equipped with a front wheel drive.

Talking about earlier mentioned wise spending Audi did not forgot about the first generation aerodynamic problems, which led to serious handling issues and equipped new generation TT coupe with automatic rear spoiler, which deploys, when this car reaches 120km/h (about 75 mph) speed.

New Audi TT will hit markets this Septembers. V6 version should cost somewhere near 36000 US Dollars (about 28500 Euros).

Audi Company does not exclude opportunity to add one sub-compact model to their production line to compete against British car called Mini. We should remember our readers, that Mini at this point is owned by German carmaker BMW. BMW and Mini management will make final decision concerning development of this car in the nearest future.
If development of this very compact car will start by receiving complete approval and dedication from the management of BMW, then it is highly possible that this car will be built around the same platform, that will be used in future Seat Ibiza. Current Ibiza generation uses the same platform, which is being used in newest Volkswagen Polo. Current smallest Audi car is called A2. That is why not so surprisingly new subcompact will be called A1 and they should make it really compact, because by our humble opinion A0 would sound very strange if management of Audi decides to build even smaller car.
Fifth generation of Volkswagen should do a fine job by borrowing this fine looking new Audi its petrol and diesel engines. After a while, 1.4 litre Turbo/Supercharged engine ouputting 170hp should hop into A1. That kind of powerplant would allow this car to compete against the hottest Mini version called Cooper S.
By some sources, this sub-compact Audi should cost 15 to 20 thousand Euros (about 19 to 25,5 thousand US dollars), but more recent info narrowed down this price range to 16-18 thousand Euros (about 20,5 to 23 thousand US dollars). Official presentation of A1 should take place in Frankfurt Motor Show 2009 and mass-production will begin only somewhere in the middle of 2010.
A small Japanese carmaker Mitsuoka with a slogan „A small factory with a big dream “has presented production version of their very controversial supercar called Orochi. Word „Orochi“ translates into English as Eight-headed Serpent (Snake) and it gets even weirder (or should we say intimidating), when we dig down to that this name comes from a Japanese mythological creature/beast called „Yamata no Orochi“ – a hydra with eight heads… oOOoooo that is scary.
For the first time this car was demonstrated as a concept way back in the year 2001, but this company management only came up with a final decision only now.
Well-known and almost legendary sports car Acura NSX is used as a base for this mythological snake car. The engine and drivetrain layout is left the same as in the original NSX, but it is powered with quite unexciting 3.3 liter V6 engine borrowed from Toyota and outputting quite steady 230 hp. To make the things boring and more anti-supercar way, Mitsuoka for some unknown reason equipped Orochi with a five speed automatic gearbox. Damn, that is totally lame, because the car looks super, but in our humble opinion it should not perform very “super” kind of way.
Mitsuoka plans to start manufacturing this supercar (or should we say only a nice car, because as you have read earlier it would not be powered with anything that would make you say woooOUUU) next year and will continue in the upcoming four years. Only 400 units in total will be produced teleporting this four wheeled, eight-headed monster named, very original automobile, in many kind of ways, to the “quite limited and for that reason unique” car category.

“Birthday cake” from Audi to celebrate “Quattro” 25 anniversary
Audi Company has decided to celebrate 25 years anniversary of its own four-wheel drive system – “Quattro” by releasing a special series of Audi S4. This series will be named – “Audi S4 25quattro”. It is planned to let release exactly 250 similar cars. We shall remind, that the first Audi car equipped with a “Quattro” system has appeared on sale in 1980.
All S4 of this special series will differ from base models by special body painting in silvery color, 18-inch rims, aggressive front bumper and carbon-fibre front wing. Besides this each of this S4 will receive unique number, from 1 up to 250, new interior with carbon-fibre details, trade mark “Quattro” on a steering wheel and Recaro sport seats.
Besides everything mentioned above, Audi S4 25quattro will be equipped with latest generation of “Quattro” system and will receive already known 4,2 litre 340hp V8 engine. From zero up to hundred kilometres an hour this AUDI S4 can be accelerated in 5,3 seconds, and its maximal speed is limited (like on most German cars) to 250 kilometres per hour. We shall note that all automobiles of this series will receive a six-step mechanical gearbox and the special version of exhaust system with the specific sporty sound.
AUDI S4 25quattro will appear on sales in the near future and will carry a price tag of 60000 US $.
Lately there has been a lot of speculation about so called cheaper Ferrari supercar. At the moment it looked like the whole audience in automotive world has split into two camps – ones were totally positive that this rumor about red color and performance loving Italian supercar maker from Maranello plans to resurrect once quite known model Dino is a absolute truth, the other half had totally reverse opinion. Not so long ago, even Ferrari management added some gasoline to this flame by stating that they are “not developing a cheap Ferrari…”. However AutoExpress using their channels managed to do some successful espionage mission and retrieved details on the upcoming Dino revival.
According to them, new Ferrari will be called 420 Dino, which was born as a Maserati project, but because of the new four dour coupe Quattroporte whole basis (and some ideas) was transferred to the care of “prancing horse”. As this supercar title implies it should be a lot more affordable supercar letting F430 move up the market to higher niche.
New Dino should be powered with all aluminum 4.2 liter 90 degree V8 outputting not very boring 480hp. This V-shaped powerplant will be mounted in front of the car, opposing to the mid-engine configuration in the classical supercar from late sixties and early seventies of the previous century.
Company management has decided that new affordable supercar will be sold in non-convertible hard-top trim with convertible or targa coming soon after. Also according to sources very well know Italian design studio Pininfarina offered the Italian mark to include one extra trim for the new F420 Dino into its line up and, as you might have guessed it, is a convertible hard-top.

New supercar should make it first major public appearance at some international motor show in 2009. Ferrari plans to manufacture from 3.5 to 5 thousand cars per year that should begin competing with Porsche 911 Turbo and Aston Martin V8 Vantage with a price tag from 82 to 90 thousand Euros (about 109 to 120 thousand US Dollars) in 2010.

Acura, luxury subdivision of Honda Company, recently revealed second generation sport utility vehicle MDX. This automobile should go on sale this October.
The new Acura MDX is equipped with 3.7 liter SOHC V6 engine that can output 300hp and maximum torque of 372 Nm. According to Acura representatives the new MDX consumes roughly from 10.5 to 14 liters per 100 km (about 17-22 mpg). Previous generation of Acura MDX was equipped with less powerful engine. It was 3.5 liter V6 VTEC powerplant outputting only 253hp. Forgetting the power gap between the first and second generation MDX, the new one will be equipped with a 5 speed automatic gearbox as it was in the previous generation.
During the development of new MDX, Acura engineers mostly targeted BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne as the main competitors. As a result the new generation model came out with longer and wider wheelbase than its predecessor. Also new MDX has totally new chassis. As we have mentioned earlier in the post called „Second Generation Acura MDX passes last tests“, this new sports utility vehicle has been tested in a legendary German racing circuit located in Nurnburgring.
What do you think if European giant carmaker Audi would merge his powers with an Australian motorcycle maker in a quest to build some quite cool car? This kind of marriage isn’t very rare in autoworld, but it means that this product could be outstanding. This could be truth at the end of this year. These both giants would like to produce compact roadster in the ideology closed to Lotus Elise. Designed to major on driving thrills, this newcomer will be highly exclusive, with only a limited number of examples planned to manufacture. Currently they think about this limitation, because who knows will it become competitive with others in this market share. Recently they made a decision to show this fabulous car in January of the next year in Detroit’s Motor Show.
Such roadster is planned to manufacture on the basis of innovative superrigid frame with superlight body panels. This roadster will be powered by a 1,4litre Volkswagen engine and equipped with the latest TSI hybrid turbocharger. Such engine in VW Golf possesses 170 horsepowers and has very low fuel consumption. The weight of the future roadster will be around 700-800 kgs (a little bit over 1,500 pounds) (Sorry, but you couldn’t take it to the party). Taking into account the fact, that this car can reach speed of hundred kilometres per hour from zero less than in six seconds with such tiny engine makes this car somewhat exclusive. So if you would like to escape from boring girls in the party it will be an easy thing to do so. Only one thing is not convenient. This KTM-developed structure may be classified as a motorcycle rather than a car, demanding that occupants wear a helmet.
So there are far-reaching plans to deliver roadster Audi-KTM Northern America car market, but the final decision concerning this project will be accepted (or not) up to the end of this year. If this project will become reality it could create a competition for Opel GT and Saturn Sky.
